Pop 'Bitches':Madonna, Cher, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Lady GaGa & Miley Cyrus.

Back in 80's, Madonna cause quite a stir with her sacrilegious imagery and tabloid-worthy behavior. She and Cher made pop culture porn chic. This trend became a little subdued... until the coming of Lady GaGa. I say subdued because despite the shocking-esque Britney and Christina era, it pales in comparison to their outrageous predecessors.

However, Britney and Christina are not excused from this because once thing they have in common with Madonna and Cher is the element of scandal. Miley Cyrus, the current teen pop star to take on a sexier image, referred to Britney as the "ring master of the whole circus" and called her her "hero" in last week's Teen Choice Awards. It's like she's basically saying Britney started the slutty teenage pop star persona.

But while she didn't say it that way, we're all thinking that, you have to admit. And you know, too, that this is just the beginning of another teenage girl wanting to be grown up. We have a pretty good idea where she's headed... Britney and Christina are prime examples of being teenagers wanting to be porn but can't be porn. So they resorted to being sexy, and success followed. In fact, despite starting off as wholesome, both singers are now associated with sensual choreography and eye-popping videos. Note that success may or may not have been a direct result of being sexy, but I leave that up to discussion.

Speaking of sexy, I wonder why Janet Jackson wasn't scandalized as much for her style... There are other artists worthy of such success. Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Gwen Stefani, and Beyonce are some of the artists who have proven that showcasing talent over sluttiness is a priority and will make you remarkable artists and will rake in all the awards. But that's the thing - when you're very talented, you get respect.

On the other hand, when you are talented and are "porn" or "porn-ish," that can be your catalyst to having a legendary status - Madonna is the queen of reinvention, Cher is a pop icon, and Britney is a teenage legend. It won't be long till Lady Gaga will have her share of awesomeness. This has been exemplified with her controversial videos (reminiscent of Madonna), her pseudo-controversial stand on homosexuals (like Cher), her recent admission of cocaine, and her stage dive at Lollapalooza in nothing but fishnet and pasties.

And at this point, it won't matter anymore what unfortunate event Britney and Lady GaGa should fall into because that's part of their legendary life now. Meanwhile, I overlook GaGa's pornstar chic lifestyle and at Christina's wanna-be porn image; I disregard Britney's troubles or Amy Winehouse's woes (although Amy Winehouse is a whole different story altogether), because behind all the headlines is their music that can be the theme song of your day.

So here's to y'all, pop b*ches!
